Every person is different and they have different wants and needs ot of their payment method. One thing everyone values is customisation. The ability to customise the transaction flow is what sets Spendable apart but it is also vital to why someone might use it or why they would continue on with their other debit card.

At every step of the custom payment flow on offer people with disability/disabled people have identified two key things to us:

  • Does the inclusion of this feature increase value/function for the person
  • Is this feature giving me the same capabilities, controls and freedom that is afforded to the rest of society.

Because of this we need to make sure that every feature is not an extra piece of red tape meant to restrict but is a way to make something possible that was either hard or impossible.

We needed to make sure that if people wanted to use Spendable their every day life like a regular debit card they could and when they needed it to meet a niche payment need then it would have the ability to meet that need. The features need to be customisable to the various needs of the user to protect them from risk while also maintaining choice, control and autonomy.

Disclaimer: This is not an exhaustive list of all payment types that disabled people/a person with disability would face. It might be a similar situation to the one you face or it might be completely irrelevant. Either way it comes from a real person that has challenged us to solve it for them.
